Prog test 25.5...now for the mating
Well on the last blog, I mentioned the prog test was 7.7 and the vet said to mate, but the breeder said no. Well we sorted that out and the vetwas really understanding where the breeder was coming from. So today we went and had another prog test. Now I have had some issued with this because I was told the vet had a prog test instument and they also send samples off to pathology as quality control becuase they have had some issues. I was under the belieif that they were still doing their own tests. When I spoke to the vet, he agreed to give me the results before lunch. Well it turns out that the prog instrument is still on the fritz. Operators at the vets said it was too unreliable and the blood had been sent off. At that stage I was rather annoyed wiht the staff at the vets.
Long story short, I got a call from the vet at about 4.00 p.m. today stating that hte prog tests results were in and Xena was 25.5. I rang the breeder straight away and was told to bring her straight down to the stud.
So as the sun set in the west, and the birds were nesting for the night, Xena was being mated. Not the most romantic with me holding her head and stroking her whilst Cruzer done the business and controlled by his handler.
After all the business side was done, I relaxed with a coffee with the breeder. During conversations I had a phone call. So what you may ask? Well it turned out to be my vet who had a spare minute at the end of the day. He rang me to make sure I had received the information about the prog test. When I told him we were at the breeders, he was happy for me and started claculating on the phone.
Ovualtion was yesterday so gestation is worked out from that date. Gestation is for 63 days from the day of ovualtion, so whelping date is 8th September 2015. Ultra sound to be done in four weeks.
We go for a second mating tomorrow, and then we wait and see.
